Welcome to the home of Georgia's Arbor Day!

Georgia's Arbor Day 2010 will be celebrated on Friday, February 19th

Come celebrate Georgia's Arbor Day on Saturday, February 6th at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075-4723, (770) 992-2055. There's fun for the whole family including a Trail of Trees presentation by Tim Womick, the modern-day Johnny Appleseed.  Enjoy the inspirational 30-minute film, The Man Who Planted Trees, an Academy Award winner for Best Animated Short Film. There will be a tree planting demonstration, guided nature walk, vendors, educational exhibits and free tree seedlings! Admission to Chattahoochee Nature Center during the event, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., is free. Hosted by Georgia Forestry Commission (www.GaTrees.org) in partnership with the Georgia Urban Forest Council (www.gufc.org).

Visit “The Grove” to find out how you can plant trees to commemorate special life moments and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

The best time to plant trees in Georgia is between the months of November and mid-March. Planting during this time allows trees a chance to become established before the hot, dry period of summer. This is why Arbor Day is celebrated every year in Georgia on the third Friday of February.

Check out the links above for information on Arbor Day and ways that you and your family or business can take part in leaving a lasting legacy for future generations by planting a tree.
