Director of Georgia Forestry Commission

The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Georgia Forestry Commission. The director is responsible for supervision of 650+ personnel with an annual operating budget of more than $60 million. In addition, the director serves as administrative officer and executive secretary of the commission. Applications will be accepted through July 17, 2017. Applicants or nominees should have demonstrated leadership, communication and administrative skills; and be able to successfully develop and implement a vision for the future of the agency. Emphasis will be placed on identifying individuals who hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or who have significant experience in forest management. Prescribed Fire Center Coordinator

The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking applications for the position of Prescribed Fire Center Coordinator. This position will be responsible for long and short term planning for prescribed fire activities; coordinating with private landowners and public land management agency personnel to complete prescribed burning; budget planning and execution of program funds; coordinating/scheduling/executing prescribed fire related training to include classroom and field delivery; development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the establishment of program activities and within established policy, rules and procedures for GFC and partner agencies and organizations. Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2017. Applicants or nominees should have a Master's Degree in Forestry, Ecology or Biology and minimum of one year of wildland fire experience including supervising, leading and executing prescribed burning for silviculture purposes; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Ecology or Biology and a minimum of two years of wildland fire experience including supervising, leading and executing prescribed burning for silviculture purposes; OR a two year degree in forestry, wildlife management or other related field of study and a minimum of four years of wildland fire experience including supervising, leading and executing prescribed burning for silvicultural purposes; OR a minimum of six ears of wildland fire experience including supervising and leading and executing prescribed burning for silviculture purposes, in which three years of those years includes managing personnel. All candidates must be a Certified Burn Manager in Georgia recognized by GFC; must have completed or be capable of completing M-410; must have a Class A or B CDL or capable of obtaining a Class B CDL within eight weeks of appointment. Applications must consist of a complete resume detailing relevant knowledge, skills and experience.
